Alexandru (Alex) Mocănescu is a Partner and Head of the Real Estate Practice in the KPMG Legal Romania. Alexandru has worked for more than 12 years in prestigious law firms, in a number of practice areas, respectively competition law, litigation, energy and real estate – the latter becoming his main practice area. He is a lawyer with dual capabilities: graduated from the Faculty of Law - University of Bucharest, which he followed, 5 years later, with a full-time MBA program at HEC Paris, specializing in business strategy and corporate finance. Alex continued his studies at the London School of Economics from which he obtained a Certificate of Economy and Real Estate Finance. His main focus is now on the Real Estate and Energy (focusing on renewable energy) practices.

Alex has worked as a key contact for a significant number of real estate clients, personally managing issues ranging from day-to-day assistance on matters such as, leasing, asset and property management issues, public authority liaison to capital markets transactions, dealing with due diligence, full transaction documentation drafting and negotiation.

With a track record of successful projects, Alex is now part of a team of six partners, who work together to coordinate the KPMG Legal – Toncescu si Asociatii law firm’s main practice areas and to promote growth. Alex brings significant skills and experience to our practice groups, especially in the areas of Real Estate and Energy. He is currently developing the ESG practice. Amongst his most notable projects we can name the following: joint venture between two major investment companies, completed with the acquisition of one of the leading office complexes in Bucharest; assisting in the acquisition of a major 3-building office complex in Bucharest; assisting one of the largest European logistics real estate as sell-side counsel in the sale of its Romanian portfolio, handling all matters, including vendor due diligence and data room preparation, as well as all transaction documentation, assisting one of the largest European logistics real estate on all day-to-day matters for more than 4 years, assisting one of the key office building owners with all day-to-day matters for more than 4 years.
